First of all, I was surprised at the ending. So that's good. And I enjoyed the whole plot line (a couple of issues were brought up at book club- but they involve spoiler alerts so I won't go into them). It was a good who-done-it type of book. But where it fell short was in the characterization. I never really felt like I truly knew anyone; they were all fairly flat. One or two people I could kind of see as real people, but for the most part, they were just backdrop to the plot.
