So many thoughts are swirling in my head. First of all, if you are reading this, be thankful you can see. The book is much more than just the tragedy of an entire community? state? country? losing its physical eyesight, but I guess about the human depravity that we all contribute to, which is heightened when a sense, such as eyesight, is lost. I'm sure there is much more that will be unraveled to me as the week progresses, but for now, it is a book on which to perseverate meaning and contemplation of who we really are when life is not awesome, when everything is jumbled together while just trying to survive as well as create order to a chaotic state.
Yeah, the whole book was like what I just wrote (not that I'm anywhere close to Mr. Saramago's talent). Bare bones- the book is about a group who were the first to become blind where eventually everyone is, they are taken to a quarentine, and learn to survive. Full body- way more than that.
