I wonder if I would have had a different feel to this book before the election. One of the main messages to the book is about how many voter's choices are suppressed, and how it is important for each person to have the opportunity to vote. The book is also a cute YA love story about the importance of family, how to deal with societal issues including race, abortion, and gun violence. But overall, I think that this book is a great story for students to read without realizing too much that it is a blast to make sure that you vote in one of the ways to make your voice heard. Since my majority of voting has taken place in one section of the county (and pretty much as a "majority" demographic, I guess I never realized how many different issues can arise when trying to vote. So for this book to be written in this time period during 2020, it was a very poignant book.
