This is such a tastefully done book. It was real and honest, but not to the point where the reader has to go out and demolish every single person during the time period of the Japanese internment camps. Yes, of course it is not only a historical reminder of what we are embarrassingly capable of as human beings, but also a warning of what is still a possibility when fear drives us. It also shows that despite the unfairness of everything, there are amazing people who are able to rise above everything and show the world what I would consider a person with true grit has. This would be a good book for a high school requirement of history
