Don't count your chickens before they hatch. I think that's how it goes. A man, Leonard, tried to make sure that his kids had a little something extra when he passed, but did not want them to depend on an inheritance, or a nest egg. Unfortunately, he didn't know that the investment would explode in value after his demise, and the kiddos all had prematurely invested their share of the nest. Until it went away because oldest Leo did a dumb thing and it mostly went away. So, now the clan is working out how to keep their dreams alive without the money.
This kind of had a feel of Trapper's This Is Where I Leave You, but not so much the snarky humor. Just a simple lesson on how to be honest. Just a simple lesson on how to make sure you realize what's important in life. And a simple lesson on not what to depend on, but who to depend on. It was an easy read for the vacation, and a fun read.
