4/5 stars I truly enjoyed this book and discussing it with my book club, where a librarian (public) joined us to tell us her stories as well. It was so much fun to learn about the politics of a library (and there are plenty), as well as the fact that librarians seem to have a passion for more than books, but also for people. This book also included a mystery as to who set the fire at the Los Angeles branch in the 80's, but the majority of the book discussed the history of this particular branch. I wondered why it wasn't about most libraries in general, but realized, thanks to this book, that each branch has its own personality and stories. I also listened to it and felt that the narration made it very pleasant, as the actual book itself lacks much dialogue and has lots and lots of words per page. |
