My rating: 3 of 5 stars
To be fair, I think that if I read this book, I probably would have rated this higher. The actual story in itself still taught me how people are able to be successful in the United States without ever learning English other than the basic words, which was super amazing in my eyes that the mother spoke only Korean, but the daughter never learned Korean and therefore there was even that language barrier. It also taught me how important it is to have a strong community in your life in order to have a good life- and sometimes it is about culture and there is nothing wrong with that (so long as it isn't exclusionary). And it also, most importantly, I think I learned about the importance of making the most of every opportunity to tell people you love them every chance you get. So overall, this book gives us insight to another culture, another relationship, and another perspective of living in America.
