It is a curse! I knew it. But luckily our budding young female offspring don't have to go into the woods for a year in hopes that they won't be hacked to death. I will say that this book was not for the faint of heart. I enjoyed it, somewhat gruesome, but left me with a sense of wanting to yell, "You go, girl!" while safely crocheting in the security of my recliner. Tierney has never wanted to get married but wanted freedom, which in her village would equate to working the fields. So when she is "proposed" to (she had no option of yes or no), she is not a happy camper. And all the girls who have also been cursed must go into the woods to rid themselves of their "magic". Now the hunger games begins...
