My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I don't like scary books. The only Stephen King I read was 11/22/63. So for me to read this book and enjoy it, well by golly, that is saying a lot. It was just a teensy bit gory, but nothing worse than dressing a 25 pound turkey. And the story line was very intriguing. Basically, the bone houses are dead people (ok, fine, zombies) who continue living despite their newly acquired icky smell. And a young girl and newbie to the village go on a hunt to figure out what is going on with all the bone houses. And while there were some surprises and some not, the adventure was enjoyable all the same. I will actually say that my favorite character was a goat. You must read it to agree. But I liked the real people, too. And some of the dead people. Maybe my next book should be Pet Cemetery...
