My son has always wanted to be famous. He's 9. He should read this book, because Blade really doesn't appreciate the constant paparazzi, especially with his drug addicted father constantly creating havoc in his life. Growing up in a musician's world, he is confronted by many truths that are life changing for him. And he is determined to go find his new life apart from his family. But what Blade realizes is that family and trust are more than just a one way street.
I had no idea what this book was about, only that I enjoy Kwame's books. It was very different thematically from the others that I read from him, but still a powerful book with strong themes. For those music lovers out there, the book is broken up with songs of the past and Blade's reactions to them. I recognized a few and truly appreciated the thought that went into the book from the authors.
