My son has to read this for his class, and I thought I'd read it as well to make sure he's comprehending it. And by golly, it was a good book. A quick book (thank you because I'm very behind on my challenge). So a girl plants some seeds in an abandoned lot of an inner city and out of curiosity and other reasons, the community also gets in on the fun. So here's what made this book pretty amazing. It had all people in the book. Not just ethnically or racially, but also the good and the bad people. It had people joining for bad reasons. It had people who were trying to grow plants that were not legal to be planted. It had people who lied to get ahead. But it also had the good people who helped, who encouraged, and all that other good stuff. So basically, it portrayed a microcosm of the world in an abandoned lot, but it also showed that despite everything, the good can still prevail. And by golly, I like that message.
