It wasn't the same as the Hate U Give, but it was still pretty good. And I read that Angie Thomas made the protagonist as a young girl that you don't necessarily feel sorry for- she's not always likeable. However, it had it's good moments and I again appreciate learning about different family dynamics, such as a famous rapper who got shot, so the family is learning to live in the aftermath. Or the in-laws who love the kids, but aren't super keen on the daughter-in-law. Or, what I enjoyed the most, was learning about the rapping contests. Amazing, and incredible once I understood that people come up with their raps off the top of their heads. I had no idea. A good book, and Angie Thomas is still an amazing writer in my opinion.
