World War II, this graphic novel written with the characters are mice. A son interviews his father about his time during the Nazi invasion. At this time Maus is considered a classic, I would think. It has heavy material, written in graphic form, but definitely is unique in that it is not a kid's book, which back when it was written was unusual. It is reminiscent of Ellie Wiesel's night.
