I had been wanting to read this book for some time, and I eventually ended up listening to it. I suggest you read it. While the graphic portion was cleverly guided with music and the narrator switched to her announcer-buy-this-laundry-detergent type voice, I felt like the Georgian accent was over the top. Or, I was listening to a middle grade thriller version of Designing Women. But then I realized I can't judge a book by the narration.
So Libby and May were bff's in Seattle until Libby's mom fell asleep at the wheel and both Libby and her mom drown after the car careens off the bridge. May's parents divorce and so she has just arrived back to Seattle for a summer to stay with her dad. But all of the sudden she sees the comic book she and Libby had created- Princess X. She's on t-shirts, backpacks, posters, maybe even as a party theme from Oriental Trading Company. So May is convinced that Libby is still alive and trying to contact her. In the meantime she wrestles with her relationship with her father, and she works with a college freshman boy who is dealing with his own struggles. So, is Libby really still alive? Do the dynamic duo figure out the perceived hidden clues? Do Libby and her father become reunited? You'll have to ask Princess X.
