A private airplane flying friends and family crashes. Two people survive- a man who loves to swim and a little boy who "lucked out" and survived as well. So the entire book is basically trying to figure out why the plane crashed, since it wasn't really a malfunction of the plane bur rather sabotage. It was a pretty fun mystery.
But now, let's talk about Scott, who just happened to be invited on the plane by Maggie, the wife of the owner of the plane. The owner, David, also happens to be a journalism magnate, with an aggressive journalist who is determined to figure this out. And so, it begins. First Scott is a hero for saving David and Maggie's son. But then, the press is after him. Clearly, the police has it all wrong and Scott is not a hero but the one who is at fault. Whether he is or isn't (I can't tell you- spoilers) at fault, the key is that the media really does determine how the public views a person or a situation. Huh. Interesting in the light of a Presidential race right now, or any voting time. But in this book, it's personal.
