Um, wow. So, clearly Libba Bray has quite the humor. Teen beauty queens have been stranded on a seemingly deserted island. Only a handful have survived and they all display the spectrum of the stereotypical beauty queens. We have the ditzy girl, the all about the contest girl, the girl who is determined to call everyone out girl, and of course, Miss New Mexico, the girl who has an airplane tray sticking out of her forehead. However, there are nuclear arms terrorists who are hiding out on the mountain, under the volcano. But then, the teen pirates show up and maybe will save the day? Can't tell you.
Despite the obvious satire, there is quite the deep thought as each girl realizes her own potential and who they really want to be in life. It's a fun book, with a lot of slapstick with the lipstick. Oh, did you see that? I made a funny joke. Maybe Libba will call me for some more ideas...
