While this started out fairly dry (to me since there was a lot of war stuff), overall I was impressed with the organization of the book and how it all tied together. It started out discussing the basic philosophies of the world during the start of the Great War, from Eugenics to the advent of all the technology that differentiated the war from all previous wars. Then it went into the war itself. Fascinating, for the most part (the Sommes attack was so sad!), and then into the friendship of the two authors. The author did talk about the conjectured connections of the war and the writing, but also talked about the faith of Tolkien and Lewis, as well as the themes in the books. I definitely learned a few things, but I know people who have really studied the lives of Tolkien or Lewis will probably not be as fascinated as I was.
