My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is in three of my book clubs, and yet I'm not sure why I waited so long to read it. It was so good! I don't know if I enjoyed the premise of a black person pretending to be white, or the family estrangement resulting from having to keep the secret from everyone about who you really are. There were lots of things going on in my head that pretty much made me turn the pages to find out more. It did take a while for me to get into it since the beginning was a little slow, but once I did- a-may-zing. And I loved the story of the daughters and their upbringings. I don't know if I was super happy about the ending, but I thought it was a good ending no matter how I felt. Anyway, another book to help you look into yourself and question what we consider beautiful and why.
