For such a short book, I sure learned a lot. First, I will say that the parallels of typhoid and Covid-19 were pretty interesting. But what I truly found more intense was the personal story of it- such as what to do with Typhoid Mary who was a carrier of the deadly disease and would always be a "danger" to the general public as there was not the inoculations to stave the spread of it. So, do you put Mary in a prison to save everyone? Do you quarantine her for the rest of her life even though she is so young? There was quite the discussion at book club regarding this factor, which goes to show that even deadly diseases can include a discussion of ethics.
