My rating: 4 of 5 stars
It's hard for me to usually get into fantasy books, and this one was a little slow at first, but it didn't take too long for me to get interested in. And don't get me wrong- I truly do enjoy the fantasy genre, but sometimes there is so much world building it takes me a while to get into the groove. Luckily this one started out with a normal ancient world, so I was good. And the girl has to fight the competition to sew the royal garments. And maybe there is some magic involved. As the book progresses, there are some really wild adventures (some of which went over my head), but had an easy to enjoy reading experience. The romance was just so-so, (because every YA has some romance of some sort), and it was the push for the apex of the book, but luckily there were plenty of other things that helped it not be dependent on the gushy eyes and beating hearts.
