Started out creepy and interesting. In fact, the hotel which has been transformed from a mental health sanatorium (hence the title) is almost like a character in itself with the reminiscent pieces from that time frame. So, there are a few murders, and a detective who is recovering from a traumatic case earlier is now on the case due to the fact that they are stranded on a mountain in blizzard conditions. There were some fair twists, some interesting red herrings, and it was easy to read. But overall, I wasn't blown away by the big reveal, and it was almost too much at the end. But as said before, the whole idea of the sanatorium put an eerie feel to the book.
