I love when books are set in places that I totally know, and Darkest Minds hits a lot of places I can envision. Plus, I thought the plot was very interesting. There are some questions I had that hopefully will be answered in the next few installments, but for the most part, it was an interesting book, perfect for the Young Adult crowd.
Ruby is put into a facility for her special powers, which all kids around the age of 10 and up have. Those who didn't get the powers died. Not sure how it all began. Anyway, the powers are labeled by colors, like green means super-intelligent (one of my questions is why did the adults put all the greens together in one camp, I mean, they would have figured out a way to break out in my opinion), blue means tele-kinetic, etc. Ruby is, of course, special, and so now that she was broken out of the facility by the good/evil group of adults, she is running for her life. Then she finds a group of three also running to the safety of one guy who is supposed to help all who come to him.
Good pacing, no super-gaggy romance, but some pretty intense moments all the same. I enjoyed it and from what I hear, it will become a mini series or something. I can see it being well done.
