My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was expecting this to be a book solely about the cases found in an emergency room, but instead it is about not only about a few medical stories, but also about Dr. Harper's experiences as a black doctor- the good and the bad. The bad is obvious- being passed over for promotions, etc. The good in that she was able to understand perspectives (and learn others) with opportunities that white doctors would not have been privy too. But through all and all, this was a great book and I enjoyed learning how diverse the patients and cases are in an emergency room.
