1/5 stars I will say that I had to push myself to finish this book. It definitely picked up the last half, but not enough for me to feel like I couldn’t wait to find out what was happening. I was pretty confused during the reveries and couldn’t connect to the characters. Kane, the leader who had forgotten he was a leader seemed kind of whiny, and I didn’t feel like I got to know any of the Others who fought alongside of him in the dreams (except maybe Ursula). I will say that there were probably points of view that completely confused me, as well as some of the author’s purpose because I am reading with a very cis-het (I hope that’s the right way to say it) point of view in the scheme of LBGTQ. So with that said, it’s a one star for me for the confusion and I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. But I’m sure that there are others that would eat this book up, which is the beauty of different genres of books. |
