A woman is raised in America but her parents are British. Her aunt who raised her because her parents died in a car crash was in a Boston marriage during WWII. She has inherited a home in London so she goes to sell it and stays, thereby forfeiting her admission to M.I.T. And then, she is given a job as the secretary to Mr. Churchill and gets embroiled into some terrorism and then, not to be a spoiler, saves the day despite not going to MIT.
Good parts of the book: I appreciated the fact that Ms. MacNeal involved England's problems with the IRA in tandom with World War II. It was a viewpoint I had never considered. I also appreciated some of the delicate parts of humor.
Not so good parts of the book: It should have been finished after the first or second heroics of the day. Also, just way too many things happened to the heroine towards the end. I mean, really, there were so many "surprises" that happened to her, I almost felt like if an escaped elephant were to show up I would have just chalked it up to another contrivance.
It wasn't horrible, and I'm sure the others after it only get better, but this reader is going to tap out of this series
