4/5 stars It's interesting how much we cherish youth. Is it because of the energy (yes), is it because they are for the most part healthy (yes). But in this book, it is because they have so much time left in their lives. And there is a way to get that time, turn it into money, and therefore make time into currency. And that time is subtracted from their lives. And so the rich can be thousands of years old, incorporating other people's time into their own world. And the queen is no exception. She is rumored to have defeated the war and therefore a hero. Only seen by a few, attended by even less. But when our heroine, Jules, runs away to her old home in Everless, she becomes involved in not only the queen's trusted attendants, but also in the secrets that are lurking in the corners. |
