I didn't read the first book, but I could pretty much catch on to what was going on, which is always a plus for me. And, I have to say, kudos for writing a YA book with absolutely no swearing! It's somewhat refreshing.
So, basic plot, Lois Lane and her Scoop cohorts are working tirelessly to 1. Help Maddie's twin sister who has partaken in an evil science experiment, 2. Help James's father become exonerated of what put him in jail, and 3. Bring down Moxie, who is the crime boss of Metropolis. That's a pretty big plate to serve. And on top of it, Lois is chatting it up with SmallvilleGuy who is worried that someone will expose "the flying man", so she is determined to solve that riddle, too.
I love the gumption of Lois, I really do. And I love the way she interacts with her new friends. But I'm not sure exactly what to make of the fact that the 16 year has figured out way more and done way more than the adults in her life. It's not a bad thing, but it seems like she is the one who has to comfort the adults. I know some mature 16 years olds, but this seems a little over the top. Overall, though, fun story, and it will be a great addition to our library.
