Of course everyone thinks of "the Women" where wives would go to Reno to become ex-wives. Interestingly, in that play/movie- there are absolutely no men in the entire viewing. Not so with this fun book. There are two women who meet and become best friends at this Flying Y camp, and there is one swash-buckling ranch hand who has been entwined in their friendship. While trying to keep up with one of the trio who is full of hijinks and mayhem, the other two find out who they really are. Told from Ward's reminiscent discussion with an unknown visitor in his nursing home, the reader feels like they are reliving the time with Ward himself. This was the perfect summer book to read during vacation, and if possible, listen to Julia Johnson's discussion in the TopShelf podcast. It makes the story all that more alluring.
