I had no idea about poor Norma Jean (cue the song). She had a very hard life going from home to home because of a mother who struggled with mental illness. We read about her supposed perspective of her marriage (her first one just kind of happened), her love of Joe DiMaggio, and her fears and pains even to the end of her life.
It must be noted as well, the book itself is beautiful. I don't usually take good notice of the designs and little nuances in the pages, but the gold inlays and watermarks truly enhanced the words and emotions in the book in verse. It was an informative and an emotional book that gave me a new perspective of Marilyn Monroe.
