My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I swear I read this book twice. But I didn't. I read another one with a very very similar plot line- bookstore going under, so young vivacious girl revives it. Yet, this one was sweeter in that the protagonist really didn't like to read. But once she started reading, there was real character growth. And the reader fell in love with her- faults and all. The setting, in London (which you knew from the title) and during WWII (which you also knew from the title), created tension of wondering when the building would be bombed, and who would be a casualty. There were some humorous moments, but for the most part, it was a sweet book that put yet another spin on WWII.
